TOD file extension

JVC created the .TOD file format for video files produced by certain models of their video camcorder range. These files contain high-definition video so may not be compatible with older software.
These files are simply .mpg formatted files that have been given the .tod extension due to apparent copyright issues. It is therefore commonly reported that renaming the extension from .tod to .mpg can make these files compatible with more video playback software.

HELP! I'm desperately trying to find a way to convert .TOD files so I can edit them in adobe premiere pro 1.5, but nothing seems to work. Renaming files doesn't work, neither converting them to .AVI ... Is there a setting in premiere I should be aware of, or is my premiere version just not compatible with the .TOD format?
