Program Information File

Executable File
The .PIF format is known as a program information file. This format was developed to hold settings information for calling MS-DOS applications within a Windows environment.

One of the main advantages of using a PIF file to execute an MS-DOS application with pre-determined settings was a dramatic reduction in required resources.

To create a PIF file, locate the program within Windows and right-click it and change the default settings.

To edit the settings in a PIF file, locate the short-cut and right-click it.
